Review process alternatives
An ink-based process and a laser process interact with the surface differently. Begin with the required result: color, contrast, location and any restriction on coating removal. Ask suppliers to describe their proposed approach against those requirements. Do not compare quotes as equivalent if one includes ink application and another changes the coated surface.
Test on the actual finish
Provide panels or coupons with the production coating and texture. Include any cleaning restrictions and the expected service exposure. If ink is proposed, identify adhesion and cure acceptance. If coating removal is proposed, establish whether exposed material is allowed. A general promise of durability is not a substitute for the customer’s required test.
Keep panel variants organized
A shared panel shape can carry several artwork versions. Give each version a clear identifier, quantity and orientation. Keep the artwork revision on the purchase order and on the approval record. Where legends sit near switches or mounting hardware, inspect the layout with the installed components shown so the final text remains visible.
