Decide whether color is required
Pad printing transfers an ink image to the part and can be considered for suitable shaped surfaces. Laser marking produces a material-dependent surface result. If the design requires a particular brand color, ask whether that is an ink specification, a visual preference or a functional identification rule. Do not assume any laser will reproduce a requested color on every resin.
Use the actual molding material
Provide the polymer designation, color and known surface treatments. Include molding changes that might affect the surface, such as release agents or texture revisions. A sample taken from the actual production process is more useful than an unrelated plastic coupon. Let the supplier know whether the part will be cleaned or assembled after marking.
Define the durability test
“Permanent” is too vague when a housing will encounter repeated handling, cleaning chemicals or abrasion. State the test or service exposure that matters and who will approve it. Compare the complete quote, including artwork setup, samples and any curing or handling requirements. Retain an approved appearance reference for repeat orders.
